This Sunday, May 25th at 5:30pm CDT (6:30pm EDT, 3:30pm PDT) we will be covering 7 minutes of terror during the decent of the Phoenix Lander to Mars.
After a 10 month journey Phoenix is ready to land, and with over a 10 minute delay in communications Phoenix will have landed before we even know if the decent has started! Watch the nail biting action as we try and stop a 12,500MPH rover in under 7 minutes!

I came up with the airbag/tether landings for Mars Rovers April 1987.I hope you use airbags as much as possible for landings and send more rovers.Landers are less interesting in my opinion. But,I’m biased because I designed the initial Mars rovers designs 1987.Viking missions discoverd life on Mars 1976.Dr. Levin deserves credit for opening up the new world of this century 32 years ago.
