Re: Private sector vs. NASA
The comment i didn’t want to post anymore cause it was too long was about he private sector Vs. NASA and how much they both need each other. As mentioned in the show the private sector NEEDS NASA or basically it would cease to exist which is very true. On the other hand, I was reading an article to do with the x-prize foundation about the benefits the private sector brings to any industry. Basically the article was saying how NASA won’t make breakthroughs as well as the private sector can because they have the ability to spend extra money to reduce risk. In the private sector, and this is basically what the x-prize is encouraging, is the need to take these risks to reduce costs. We have already seen that with the Ansari X-prize where they basically reinvented how a shuttle can re-enter the atmosphere and much much more.
In that way i think that NASA NEEDS the private sector to make the breakthroughs to reduce costs, find alternate thinking, etc.
