[..YouTube..] What we need is farms and food-processors on the moon. Spaceship comes to the moon, picks up food/supplies from the moon, then travels on to Mars. Perhaps a space elevator on the moon could easily deliver the supplies to the spaceship.
Farms could be maintained by robots(With humans stopping by every once in a while for research/maintenance/etc..).

Tending to the on board microgravity adapted permaculture will be important to the psychological well being of the crew. Aeroponic gardens should work ok in microgravity. Algae tanks with some fish should shield as well as feed the crew. Pet parrots in the garden would be really cool too.

I remember as a young man (somehow) getting to try a sample of the food cubes that you show at the 1:20 mark. Ewwwww doesn’t even begin to describe how bad they were.
You also have to keep in mind that I had the distinct pleasure of begging my mom to buy Space Food Sticks: http://www.spacefoodsticks.com/ Take my advice and stick to the MoonPies, kids.
Oh yeah! I had space food sticks once. NASTY! Some people think the dehydrated ice cream is bad? Not compared to those sticks. BLECH!
Dehydrated apple cinnamon slices are okay, though.

Honestly, I would want to hear more about space farming by the time we’re at Mars. Let alone when we’re substancalily on the moon.
