    [..YouTube..] We need to go to the moon and establish a presence. having a base there is something that we can touch and feel. Going to Mars just to plant the flag is that same as we did on the moon. We haven’t been back for 40 years, it will be the same for Mars. So, back to the moon, build a base like in Antarctica, do science and develop the tech to go to Mars.

    Does anybody know where I can get a copy of that book? I love the 70s-80s space/SF look.

    I was in Elementary School when Stardust launched, too!

    Oh, and while China certainly does have less red tape, India’s government does have similar issues to those the government of the US faces, with many local interest groups complicating things for the national government. (I’m reading The Post-American World for school.)

      The problem isn’t insufficient funds. If Obama stops NASA from continuing to throw money down the Ares rat hole, its current budget is enough to do some amazing things with the private sector, depot technology, and developing new technologies. That includes finally going beyond LEO, but this time sustainably and affordably.
