Russia to restart space tourism to the ISS in 2012 – 10.09.05

It seems that we will be seeing a larger number and more frequent space tourists even sooner than most of us had previously thought. According to a Russian official who is connected to the Space Adventures Company, space tourists by the fist full should be going up in Soyuz spacecraft as soon as early 2012.

We're still a ways to where we thought we'd be in Arthur C. Clarke's 2001.
We might see a few more space tourists soonish, and eventually it may come down some in price, but I'm still not buying that it will be affordable any time in my lifetime (I'm defining “affordable” as $250,000- $1- million to orbit), so I think my best bet is still to study up on physics and engineering and serve for a few years in order to get to space. Which is fine. I'd much prefer to be a space worker than a space tourist. I'd rather do something while there to advance or development of space than just float around and get in the way.
