SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and SLC-40 – 09.10.19

Space Exploration Technologies or ‘SpaceX’ has already flown their single engine rocket, the Falcon 1, successfully twice. Now it’s time to move on to bigger and badder things: the rocket with 8 additional Merlin engines and aptly named Falcon 9. The nomenclature could be based on how many engines are used in the first stage. Thus the Falcon 1 having 1 engine in first stage, and the Falcon 9 having 9 engines in the first stage. On the boards for awhile was a Falcon 5, but it seems that plan has been scrapped or put on hold in favor of the F9.
