With rumors flying about the future of NASA’s Constellation program, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden should be able to shed some light on the agencies plans. At 3:00pm EST today NASA TV as well as Spacevidcast.com will carry Bolden’s conference where he will go over the budget.

is that a gost busters t-shert?
@ao6ao6 no, a Yuri’s Night shirt
Though I’m sure Bolden will glorify this new direction in space, we should all be very aware that this is only a reflection of the monetary situation in the US. Simply, private developed launchers = Cheaper. And thats only why this decision has been made now, we all realize i think that this is the direction it has to go, but as former Nasa Administrator Mike Griffin said “It’s like 1920. Lindbergh hasn’t flown the Atlantic, and they’re trying to sell 747s to Pan Am”´Well said.
1:00 — Bolden: “It will be the last time in the history of mankind … that you’ll see a vehicle of its capability leave this planet and go into low earth orbit.”
Is he predicting that at no point in the future will humanity ever build another spaceplane?
He only meant that never again will a spaceplane with the shuttles capbilities be launched into low earth orbit. Obviously he’s not ruling out any spacecraft that would be sent further out into the solar system.
I will design the next SSTO vehicle in X-plane soon.
