Lets take a look at some stunning images, shall we? We start or journey with an amazing picture taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter or LRO. With the Wide Angle Camera pointed at Earth, the LRO team took this awesome view of our home planet. The top right of the picture at around 2:00 is the North Pole. You can also see Japan and Australia from here. I think I see a desktop wallpaper being generated out of this. Oh wait, we already did that. Head over to the Wallpapers, Ringtones and Downloads section of Spacevidcast to grab that one.

Here is an amazing shot of an F-15 in the sky. What makes this space related? If you look at the bottom of the picture you can make out both Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Launch Pads, 39A and B. These images were taken by John Peltier and look just… WAIT… IS THAT A SHUTTLE LAUNCHING? Yes, if I’m not mistaken that’s Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS-132. If you look veeeery closely you can see the Spacevidcast media tent. OK, maybe not. These photos are just too good for desktop wallpapers, these are for framing. And if you want to get your own print copy you can do that at the URL on your screen. Prices start at around $8.00 US and I think this would make a great addition to your space gallery.

STS-132 is scheduled to be the final flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis provided that the STS-335 Launch On Need rescue mission is not flown.

Great flight Atlantis! 4.8 million miles traveled over 11 days 18 hours 29 minutes and 9 seconds! Atlantis completed it’s last flight at 8:48am EDT May 26th 2010, marking its 32nd flight, the 132nd flight of the Space Shuttle program, and the 34th dedicated ISS Assembly flight.

Atlantis may have reached wheel-stop this morning, but we sure haven’t! Spacevidcast epic content for STS-132 is still on it’s way! Stay tuned for post-mission downloadables!

This is one of only 5 space shuttle missions remaining. This is the final night launch of any space shuttle mission and second to last mission for Space Shuttle Endeavour or OV-105. Very clean launch. The video is from L-11 minutes to external tank separation. There are a few glitches in this video, my apologies. Working on finding a cleaner version with the cool ascent graphics still.

Spacevidcast epic subscribers get even MORE! In addition to the above video if you have epic you can download the 1.65GB MPEG 2 file that came right off the satellite. That’s the raw 720p file, 60 frames per second at over 10Mbps! If that’s too much for your computer we have compressed it down to a much smaller 650MB h.264 HD file.
