This is the full launch event which was on September 24th at 9:28am UTC. In space launches boring is exciting and this sure was boreciting! The rocket is a Zenit-3SL and the payload is Galaxy 19 which will sit at 97 West for video and audio communications.

Launch of the GeoEye imaging satellite aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket. The GeoEye-1 satellite will provide extremely high resolution pictures to Google, most likely for use in their mapping products.

Launch of EchoStar XI - Ocean based launch by Sea Launch Company

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

On Wednesday, July 16th at 12:21am CDT a Zenit-3SL rocket launched via the ocean based Odyssey launch platform. The Zenit-3SL rocket carried EchoStar XI into space while the Block DM-SL upper stage inserted it into geosynchronous transfer orbit. The final location for EchoStar XI will be 110 degrees West Longitude.
